Fingal Athletic F.C. was Co-Founded by Ger Coughlan and David Gibney in the early summer of 2005. News quickly spread and the players began arriving, which included some of the best players in the Fingal area. The management team was made up of Des Pierce and Ger Coughlan. Our first year together was very successful we finished a respectable 2nd in the AUL Saturday Division 2 with two semi final appearances and our appearance in the last 32 when we played Ballymun United in the FAI Junior Cup. Not a bad start for such a new club.
In its 2nd season Fingal Athletic formed a Sunday side to compete in Division 2A. Richard Deegan is the manager at the helm and has brought with him some very good players that he has played alongside and previously managed. The newly formed Sunday side performed well throughout the season and finished a respectable third out of 24 teams, again a superb achievement for their first season together. After being promoted to the AUL Division 1A, the Saturday side had a superb 2nd season brining home the clubs first piece of silverware by winning the league. They finished on 41 points ahead of Dingle United. The last game of the season saw the two teams meet in a thrilling finale. 3-3 was the final score, which clinched the title for Fingal.
This year Fingal Athletic's Saturday side have signed a new Manager John Grehan to try and further the success of the team and gain promotion to the Senior Saturday division. The new season has brought some new faces to the club in the form of Jonathan Regan, Arran Wrafter John Woods and Trevor Reid. The New Manager has brought with him a new vision for the club and a new style of playing. Our new home pitch is Newbridge House and Demense which is just off the M1 on the road to Donabate.
Fingal Athletic F.C. would like to extend a special thank you to The Peacocks Steakhouse who have been our sponsor for the past 3 years.
